Short Term Missions Letter 2019
January 14, 2019

Dear Friends and Family,
In 2018, Short Term Missions took us to Malawi, summer camp at Forest Home, and an International Justice Mission conference. Prayers were offered and answered. Believers were discipled.  Pastors were trained and equipped. Kids were seen, known, and loved in Jesus’ name. Our network of contacts with workers, leaders, and churches around the world was strengthened.
At the heart of FPCH Short Term Missions is the heart of Jesus and His passion to proclaim the Good News; to heal the broken hearted and to set the captives free. His love compels us beyond our own capacities to love one another and all to whom He sends us. For 2019 we have the following opportunities.

Campeche, Mexico – The Outreach Foundation: Maddie Mitchellweiler, our new Short-Term Missions Coordinator, and Argel Chay from the Fuente de Vida congregation are partnering to lead a team of ten people to Xpujil, a jungle region in Campeche, Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula. Working with the Outreach Foundation, they will build a cement cistern for local villagers that will catch rain water used to sustain daily life. The team will also worship with local Presbyterians and visit Mayan ruins in the surrounding area. This trip is a wonderful opportunity to spread Gospel love to our brothers and sisters across the border by answering a practical need for physical labor, supporting the missionary witness of Todd and Maria Luke (Calakmul missionaries), and fellowshipping with local believers. The team will be there February 19-26. The cost for the trip (which includes airfare, lodging, and materials for the cistern) is $1,200 per person.

Malawi: Jack Hardgrave will again be traveling to Malawi with his Rwandan friend, Faustin, to begin training rural pastors in the Central Region. They are being sent by Exodus Vision in late June 2019 for two one-week conferences to train these pastors in the basic tenets of the Christian faith. They will also provide food, transportation and training booklets for the pastors who attend.  This will be the first time providing two conferences for pastors in the central part of the country.  They expect 40 to 50 pastors to attend each of these conferences. The cost for the trip will be $3,000 for each trainer.
On behalf of Global Missions and our Short Term Missions program, we would like to invite you to support our FPCH missionaries. It is easy to do by filling-out the attached form and returning it to the Global Missions Office. You may make checks out to FPCH and designate a specific team [name and account numbers are on the form] or give to all teams if you wish.
If you are unable to contribute financially, please don’t underestimate the power of being a prayer partner.  Each of these teams needs to be covered with a blanket of prayer not only during their time in the field but also in the weeks and months leading up to the trip.  If you are interested in participating in short term missions you may contact Maddie Mitchellweilerat (323) 606-5236, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
