What is special about Children's & Family Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood?

Our Purpose (why we exist): To serve as a resource to children and their families for building community, supporting family life, and cultivating relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision (what we hope to do): To welcome all children and families into a faith community that encourages each person to grow in their identity as a follower of Jesus Christ and member of His Church.

Summer Sunday Schedule

Sundays from June 16-September 1, 2019

8:15 Nursery Opens
Nursery is designed for infants and toddlers up to age 2; Children as old as age 4 may stay during the 8:30 service only. The Nursery Coordinator will help you determine when your child is developmentally ready to transition from the nursery to the Early Childhood Sunday School room.

9:50 - 11:15 Sunday School for Early Childhood (2s thru Pre-K)
Two preschool classrooms are located on the 2nd floor of the Preschool Building (NE corner of campus). The Orange Room is available for 2 and 3-year-olds. The Green Room is available for 4 and 5-year-olds. Background-checked and trained volunteers are available in each classroom; the time consists of active play, Bible Stories and songs, crafts, and snack.

Please note: Incoming Kindergarteners may stay with Pre-K through the summer or may begin transitioning to children's church.

10:30 – 11:15 Children's Church (incoming K-4th Grade)
All children over age 5 begin worship in the Sanctuary with their families at 10am! During the service, children will be invited forward for a "children's message", after which they are welcome to go with volunteers to Children's Church. First-time families are welcome to go with their children to meet volunteers and see the classroom. Children's Church typically consists of significant playground time followed by a Bible lesson, active games, and crafts. Background-checked and trained volunteers help children grow accustomed to the pattern of worship while learning to honor their God-given personality, energy, and learning styles.

Please note: Children who have finished 4th grade are asked to begin worshiping through the entire service. Active Worship Bags/Clip Boards are available in the Narthex to aid in developmentally appropriate worship. Children in 5th grade and older can begin serving in younger classrooms on a limited basis, with the approval and coordination of the Children's Ministry Director and their parents/caregivers.

11:30 All children must be picked up from Sunday School and Children's Church classrooms. Any children not picked up by 11:30 will be taken to the Nursery where they can be signed out by parents/caregivers.

11:45 Nursery Closes; all children should be picked up.
