What is special about Children's & Family Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood?

Our Purpose (why we exist): To serve as a resource to children and their families for building community, supporting family life, and cultivating relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision (what we hope to do): To welcome all children and families into a faith community that encourages each person to grow in their identity as a follower of Jesus Christ and member of His Church.

Celebration Sunday: June 10, 2018

This annual tradition brings together our entire church community for a celebration of our Lord and Savior through a music-filled morning! Adult choirs, bell choirs, and children's & teen choirs all participate in this worship service as we prepare for the summer season.
Nursery and preschool classrooms available like a normal service. Kindergarten and older stay in the service (no children's church).

Summer Sunday Schedule 2018

June 17 - September 2

We like to change things up in the summer! Here's what you can expect:
8:30 contemplative service in Wylie Chapel - Nursery opens at 8:15 for children ages 4 and under.
Nursery stays open during adult and youth programs from 9am-9:50am
*children 3 months - 2 years are always welcome in the nursery!
Preschool rooms - Orange Room (turning 3 by September 1st) and Green Room (turning 4 by September 1st)
*open at 9:45 and close after the 10am service
*classrooms are located on the second floor of the Preschool Building (NE corner of campus)
Children's Church - for incoming Kindergarten - 4th grade
Children sit with parents in the worship service until the children's message and then can follow volunteers to the 3rd grade room where they will extend their worship time in fun, age-appropriate ways!
Children entering 4th grade and older get to practice worshiping with their families during the summer months! Children entering 6th grade and older may volunteer with younger children occasionally if arrangements are made in advance with the Director of Children's & Family Ministries or if they are serving alongside their parents (which must also be arranged in advance).

Children's Church is a time for fun, age-appropriate learning which prepares children for corporate worship as they get older. This is not a substitute for Sunday School as it focuses less on Bible stories and more on practicing the skills needed for corporate worship including, but not limited to active listening, practicing various types of worship, Creeds, the Doxology, the Lord's Prayer, and understanding the purpose and methods of offering, the Lord's Supper, and Baptism.
